The lovely and popular....Navy Blue

I don't know about you guys....but ever since the sun came out and the weather started perking up Ive been wanting to be able to WORK and still enjoy the sunny view and light from inside!

My home office/Craft Room/Art Room is kind of all one big office room...and its spacious but...Unfortunately, its also very distracting for when I need to get something done for the academy at the house and its lacking natural light that I have been craving! The room I am thinking about transforming into "Ali's Work and No Play Brainstorming Room" was actually my old office but I had moved in need of a bigger room in the house to carry out the larger projects I had been working on. And I  did a number to the walls in my last home office and am going to patch any holes before painting. Its a small room - only about 300 Square Feet.

I am undecided on the wall paint color but am leaning towards painting the walls a velvety Navy Blue with white ceilings and trimmings OR painting the walls a bright white (to let in more natural sunlight) and the ceiling a navy blue?

My ultimate goal would be to have a separate room to seclude myself in when I am working on business work for our academy and not have TOO many pretty distractions. Although, I want it to be a room that when you walk in you immediately are able to focus and brainstorm. My husband bought me a huge melamine board from Home Depot that I also plan on putting on the wall to map out our 1 yr. etc. business plans and goals.

I also do kind of miss the natural light that the old office has (it has a bay window overlooking the back yard and patio) and also has glass doors to close out noise when I need to really focus. The only reason I moved before was because it was a bit too small for a lot of the sewing projects and painting I was doing.

Here are a few pictures I found to be inspirational in trying to create a certain vibe for the new "work only no play" office  :-)

Let me know what you think!

Love the modern simplicity of this picture. The sleek solid white upholstery pops out against the navy walls and the room is chic and yet not overwhelming or distracting. Definitely what I would be needing   in the new office.

Like this example of the silver picture frames and white couch (was interested to see how good wood looked next to navy and white)

Had to throw this one in. Who wouldnt love to paint their front door a cheery blue?!

Am considering this picture as a reference for my next DIY art project. Look at that gold art against the navy walls! So lovely and rich looking. Adds great texture

This is navy blue with more gold and tan as a secondary color rather than white or silver. I like how the colors feel warmer than the modern navy and stark white.

Love the navy painted built in!

OK...so....If I WERE to have other prettiness on my walls...I want it to be like this blue map! So cool and I love that it has a masculine feel to it (and so wil my husband when he steals my room).
